Apple shows off how they bend test iPhones

Apple’s finally taking a stand against #bendgate. First up was an official missive that claimed only 9 iPhone 6 Plus users have registered complaints about their new $750 devices being bent. Then they went on the offensive by showing reporters around their test lab.
What goes on inside the facility looks very similar to what you’ve probably seen from other manufacturers. An array of machines are set up to subject iPhones to real world abuses, including sitting on hard and soft surfaces and several different bending and twisting tests.
Senior VP of hardware engineering Dan Riccio says that iPhones will only deform if users “apply a huge load beyond a natural point of deformation.” Basically, if you reef on your phone, you’re going to bend the ever-loving crap out of it. He underscores that Apple runs these tests thousands of times, and they’re performed both in China and back home in Cupertino.
So there you go then, Russell. That slight deformation you’re seeingafter handling your new iPhone as carefully as you’ve handled every other phone you’ve tested for Geek.com is clearly due to secretive late-night bending sessions. It’s definitely not just happening because of denim/human thigh physics
